Title:
LASER WELDING METHOD FOR CARBON STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3238660
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser welding method for preventing the generation of a hardened layer at a welding part when different kinds of carbon steels, the carbon content of which is different from each other, are laser welded.
SOLUTION: The junction of a boss 2, which is a carbon steel for machine structural use containing about 0.2% carbon, and a hub 3, which is a rolled steel plate containing about 0.1% carbon, is laser welded to produce a wheel 1 for vehicles. For that purpose, the laser is applied in a slanting direction to the jointing face from the side of the hub 3 containing less carbon to weld the end part of the hub 3 as if it is fused in. Likewise, the laser is generally applied in a slanting direction to the jointing face from the side of the carbon steel containing less carbon for welding.
