To provide a lash adjuster low in cylinder head machining cost and excelling in lubricity of the projecting end of an adjusting screw.
The lash adjuster has an arm 7 pressed by a cam 6; a nut member 14 inserted in a receiving hole 18 opened to the lower face of the arm 7; the adjusting screw 15 having an external thread 20 on the outer periphery so as to be screw-engaged with an internal thread 19 formed on the inner periphery of the nut member 14; a return spring 16 energizing the adjusting screw 15 in a direction to project downward from the nut member 14; and a receiving member 17 provided with a recessed part 28 in the upper face to support the end 27, projecting from the nut member 14, of the adjusting screw 15. The constitution of supporting the arm 7 to be swingable around the receiving member 17 used as a fulcrum is adopted to the lash adjuster.
