To provide a latch device for a door of furniture, which has a narrow width so that a narrow frame is usable for forming the door, and facilitates formation of a door having a glass sheet on the front side of the frame.
The latch device is constituted in the following manner. First, a rear peripheral portion of a glass portion 6 forming the door 2 is supported at least by one rod member 7. The rod member 7 has latch rods 8a, 8b rotatably mounted on a rear surface thereof along a longitudinal direction thereof, and a pull member 4 mounted on a front surface thereof via the glass portion 6 along the longitudinal direction of the rod member 7, in a manner protruding frontward. The pull member 4, the glass portion 6, and the rod member 7 have through holes 4a, 6c, 7a, 7b, respectively, which are penetrated and opened in the rear surface of the rod member 7. Then an operating rod 20 which is connected to the latch rod 7 for generating rotation of the same, is inserted in the through holes 4a, 6c, 7a, 7b in a manner movable therein frontward and rearward.
