To provide a latch device for shelves, with which shelves are installed closely to a wall surface, with which the installing only with latching in the upper end can secure stability, and with which the installing is easily performed by one person.

The latch device comprises: a hook fixture 1 on the side of a wall surface 5, for which one or more pieces of L-shaped hooks 12 are projectingly installed integrally with an elastically deformable belt-like base plate 9 and for which the inner side of a standing piece 21 as the tip end part of the L-shape is formed in an inclined edge 23; and a bracket 3 on the side of shelves 7, for which a partially bent and bulged-out convex part 28 is formed on the elastically deformable belt plate and for which a window hole 29 engaged and hooked in the hole upper edge is provided in the inclined edge 23 of the hook. The hook fixture 1 is provided with a stop hole 15 for putting through a fastening screw 10 or the like on both upper and lower parts across the hook 12. Also, the bracket 3 is provided with a stop hole 30 for fastening with a screw 26 or the like on both upper and lower parts across the convex part 28. The hook fixture 1 and the bracket 3 are configured to elastically deformed, shelves are closely installed to a wall surface by the elasticity incidental to the elastic deformation.
