To provide a latch device capable of avoiding inadvertent opening of a lid as the result of tampering by children since the lid cannot be unlocked unless a pushing operation and a turning operation are combined.
This latch device has a main spindle 3 fitted into a bearing body 2 secured to a fixed case 1, the main spindle 3 having a drive projection 5 on the peripheral edge of the lower surface thereof and energized upward by a spring 6. A latch body 7 perpendicular to the direction of the axis of the main spindle 3 is energized and projected by the spring 8 and a driven groove 9 to which the drive projection 5 is opposed when the main spindle 3 is depressed is provided in the upper surface of the latch body 7. A stopper projection is provided on the outer surface of the main spindle 3 and a rotational-angle-regulating arcuate groove 11 in which the stopper projection fits is provided in the inner surface of the bearing body 2. A first locking recess in which the stopper projection is engaged while in a locking position is provided at one end of the arcuate groove.
