To provide a device, which can be installed to door frame slave door regardless of the door being of opening-in type or opening-out, type etc., and in which there is no vibration and sound by the two-step falling of a latch after mounting.
This latch receiving device comprises a receiving box 2 mounted into the front end section of a door frame or a slave door 1, a sliding box 3 capable of being moved in the horizontal direction in the receiving box 2 and having a recessed section 5 for engaging a latch, and a surface metal 4 having an opening 6 for engaging the latch in a front surface. Projecting sections 8, 8 lowered on the recessed section 5 side for engaging the latch from approximately the same height as the thickness of the surface metal 4 and used for abutting the latch are formed to the sliding box 3 respectively, and recessed notched sections 9, 9, with which the projecting sections 8, 8 can be engaged, are formed at both internal edge sections of the opening 6 respectively in the surface metal 4 while folded edge sections 10, 10, in which each external edge is folded backwards and which are used for receiving the latch, are formed on both sides of the surface metal 4.
