PURPOSE: To satisfy the requirement to a dynamic picture and a still picture, by controlling easily the switching of high density and high speed scanning.
CONSTITUTION: An optical path switching reflecting mirror 18 is saved from the optical path to obtain a still picture having a good resolution, an optical beam L is irradiated from a laser light source 7, then a picture sotrage board 6 is scanned horizontally with the rotation of a rotation polygon mirror 16, the board is sub-scanned in vertical direction by shifting downward a shift board 12 and the picture without distortion is obtained in the picture storage board 6. In inserting a mirror 18 in the optical path to obtain the dynamic picture, a beam L is deflected in the direction of a galvano mirror 17 and scanned and deflected in the picture sotrage board 6 at high speed. The number of picture elements is decreased and the timewise resolution is improved by performing the main scanning on the picture stroage board 6 with the vibration of the galvano-meter and the sub-scanning with the operation of the cam.
