Abstract:
A transverse element (32) for a drive belt (3) for a continuously variable transmission, which drive belt (3) is destined to be arranged around two pulleys (1, 2) of the transmission and which drive belt (3) comprises a number of such transverse elements (32) for contacting the transmission pulleys (1, 2) and two endless carriers (31) for carrying these transverse elements (32). The transverse elements (32) are provided with lateral side faces that each include two contact surface parts for contacting the transmission pulleys (1, 2), which contact surface parts are provided with a surface profile and are mutually separated by a recessed, central part of the respective lateral side face.
