Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a lathe having parallel two spindles to enable compound works including Y spindle work of the first and the second processes and to improve working efficiency in comparison with conventional one.
CONSTITUTION: A headstock 2 having two spindles which are standing lengthwise is fixed at the center of a bed 1. On both sides of a vertical plane a-a running through respective centers of two spindles, Z spindle guides 5A and 5B having α° up-grade to the vertical plane a-a are provided. Compound works are made possible by providing saddles 6A and 6B to be capable of being movably positioned on the Z spindle guides 5A and 5B, by providing intermediate rests 7A and 7B to be capable of being movably positioned on the first X spindle guide having α° up-grade on the saddles 6A and 6B, by providing tool rests 8A and 8B to be capable of being movably positioned on the second X spindle guide where the intermediate rests 7A and 7B have β° down-grade 7a to the vertical plane a-a, and by providing turrets 9A and 9B capable of swivel driving of a rotary tool TA or a fixed tool TB at three cutting positions on the tool rests 8A and 8B.
