With the grating body for a battery electrode plate, of which, slits 2a consisting of notches made in the length direction are formed zigzag on a lead sheet 2, and by pulling open the lead sheet 2 in the width direction to expand the slits 2a, each knot part 2c structured with each two slits 2a adjoining in the length direction is made into a connected grating with four crosspieces 2b drawn in bending in a slant direction, structured between each two slits 2a adjoining in a width direction, at least one crosspiece from among the four 2b connected to each knot part 2c is so structured to bend in a slant direction through a drawn part 2d drawn out from the knot part 2c in nearly a length direction.
