PURPOSE: To improve the editing workability by discriminating and displaying the blocks and/or frames included in a frame area while magnifying and reducing the area.
CONSTITUTION: A rectangular area of a frame F2 to be newly produced is designated and displayed. Meanwhile an area is magnified and reduced for decision of a rectangular area of a frame. At the same time, the blocks B4 and B5 and a frame F1 included in the magnified/reduced area are discriminated and displayed. Then a frame forming process is carried out after an area of a frame is decided. As a result, a frame and/or block which can be connected to a new frame are displayed in response to the change of the area of the new frame at formation of a frame. Thus the operability is improved for a frame forming process of a mixed mode communication document. Then a layout editing process is effectively carried out.
