Abstract:
To provide a leaching method that enables efficient acid leaching of an electrode material contained in a lithium ion secondary battery at a low cost without using an excessive amount of reducing agent, and to provide a separation method for cobalt and nickel including said leaching method.SOLUTION: Provided is a leaching method that has a leaching step of acid leaching an electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery, and the leaching step includes a sulfuric acid addition process of adding sulfuric acid to the electrode material, an iron powder addition process of adding iron powder, and an ORP measurement process of measuring oxidation-reduction potential after the addition of the iron powder and determining a stable oxidation-reduction potential, which is the oxidation-reduction potential at the time when no increase in the oxidation-reduction potential is observed, and the method is characterized in that the iron powder addition process and the ORP measurement process are repeated until the stable oxidation-reduction potential becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
