To provide a long-life lead acid battery which prevents reduction in the thickness of a negative electrode current collecting tub, where the reduction in the thickness occurs in a cycle life test for simulating a driving mode of an ISS vehicle, and avoids a start disable state and a risk of explosion.
A Pb-Sb based alloy layer is formed on a part of the surface of a current collector tub section made of a Pb-Ca based alloy with the thickness of a current collector tub of a grid as usual. When the Pb-Sb based alloy layer is formed, a Pb-Sb based alloy sheet is placed in the width direction center of the surface of a Pb-Ca based alloy sheet in a shape of a band. This forms the Pb-Sb based alloy layer and crimps it to the current collecting tub. The Pb-Sb based alloy layer can prevent the reduction of the thickness of the negative electrode current collector tub in using ISS.
