Abstract:
Provided is a lead storage battery that can achieve both suppression of electrolyte stratification and suppression of high rate discharge performance degradation. A first embodiment of a lead storage battery of the present invention is characterized by the following: a porous membrane (8) through which electrolytes can pass is disposed around a negative electrode plate (5); the porous membrane (8) includes a base material (12) having a hydrophobic functional group, and a hydrophilic coating film (9) formed on the surface of the base material (12); the hydrophilic coating film (9) includes a hydrophilic material (10) and a binder (11); the binder (11) has a hydrophobic functional group and a hydrophilic functional group, and has a structure wherein the hydrophobic functional group of the binder (11) and the hydrophobic functional group of the base material (12) are joined; and the binder (11) has the hydrophilic functional group on the edge of the surface side of the hydrophilic coating film.
