Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a response characteristic of follow-up control in accordance with a relative speed to a leading vehicle.
SOLUTION: Based on a target inter-vehicle distance LT*, inter-vehicle distance detection value LT, and a relative speed detection value ΔV, a target car speed V* for conforming the inter-vehicle distance detection value LT to the target inter-vehicle distance LT* is calculated, so as to conform a self car speed detection value VS to the target car speed V*, brake drive force of a vehicle is controlled, when the vehicle follows up a leading vehicle, in accordance with the relative speed detection value ΔV, a control gain fd, fv of inter-vehicle distance control is changed. In this way, in accordance with the relative detection speed ΔV, a response characteristic of follow-up control can be determined, for instance, even when cut in a head is generated during follow-up to the leading vehicle, in accordance with a relative speed ΔV to a new leading vehicle (cut in a head vehicle), a response characteristic of optimum follow-up control can be determined.
