To eliminate uncomfortable feeling by using a leakage absorbing ring twisted spirally so as to prevent spreading of urine leakage even when urine is leaked through the outer periphery of the face plate of an ostomy appliance.

When mounting the ostomy appliance to the skin, the leakage absorbing ring 10 is inserted between the outer surface of an adhesive tape surrounding the face plate and an ostomy bag. The leakage absorbing ring is obtained by forming a cord-like member 12 in the state of a ring, and the shape of its cross section is circular or elliptic. The cord-like member is provided with a water absorbing layer. The water absorbing layer comprises a large number of threads 14 approximately parallel to each other, and the large number of threads are extended spirally in the longitudinal direction of the cord-like member. When the water absorbing layer consisting of the large number of threads twisted spirally absorbs the leaked urine, the urine soaks along the spiral threads to be separated from a urine-leakage place. Consequently, places wet with the urine stay in the state of spots and they are not spread.
