Abstract:
PURPOSE: To integrate required magnetic functions for lamp ballast, by continuously providing a prim. winding on a leakage leg and remaining second legs in specified relation and sec. windings on the second legs, using multi-leg transformer core. CONSTITUTION: A transformer core 37 has a center leg 38 to be a leakage leg and sec. winding legs 40a, 40b. A prim. winding 34 is continuously disposed on the legs 40a, 33 and 40b and has required winding Np for avoiding saturating the transformer with use of specified input voltage and core material. The windings Np1, Np2 and the winding Np2 disposed on the leg 38 are determined according to Eq. I wherein Nc is const. showing the number of the legs 40a, 40b, i.e., 2. The sec. windings 36a, 36b are disposed on the length 40a, 40b. The prim. winding 34 is driven by an AC power source 26 while the sec. windings drive lamps and part of the winding Np2 forms a stabilizing inductance.
