Abstract:

To provide a method and a device for protecting an exhaust control system of lean combustion based on a catalyst.

A method, a device and a fuel composition for protecting a post-treatment system with a catalyst and a method for protecting a post- treatment system with a catalyst in a lean combustion system are disclosed here. An effective quantity of a scavenger medium for forming a complex with a combustion by-product of a catalyst poison and improving the durability of the exhaust system is introduced into a combustion chamber. In a preferable condition, the scavenger is an organic metal compound which adds further desired properties to the fuel.
