More than one sets of the prototype description of plural object classes stored in a computer data base are managed. Those prototype description is used as a base for identifying the presented object class. A trainer decides when a new prototype should be added to the data base based on a present compared result. Thus, this system is learned for recognizing the item of the class extremely different from an item used at first for deciding a classification rule. Which prototype should be deleted is decided with a comparison history as a basis. Therefore, this system can automatically optimize the limited integrated work of the prototype by itself. Moreover, this system can always trace the fluctuation of a class characteristic, and properly correct the corresponding set of the prototype.
