To provide a learning type remote control unit capable of measuring, storing, imitating, and reproducing a burst pulse signal period of a remote control of a desired apparatus by a comparatively low performance microcomputer and a low capacity memory.

The learning type remote control unit comprises a receiving means for receiving a control signal outputted from a remote control unit of a desired external apparatus, a time information measuring means for capturing the control signal including a burst pulse signal and measuring a time information on signal variance, a burst pulse signal separating means for analyzing the time information to separate it into a time information of the burst pulse signal and a time information of the control signal except the burst pulse signal, a burst pulse signal recording means for recording the time information of the burst pulse signal, and a control signal recording means for recording the time information of the control signal.
