To provide a leather-like sheet base material that has excellent surface smoothness and can give artificial leather of relatively lightweight in spite of having a sense of fulfillment and provide a method for producing the same.

The leather-like sheet base material is constituted with an entangled nonwoven fabric that is prepared by mixing (A) ultra fine fiber that is made of polyolefin polymer and has an average single fiber fineness of ≤ 0.5 dTex and (B) ultra fine fiber that is made of a polymer different from polyolefin polymer and has an average single fiber fineness of ≤ 0.5 dTex, and with a high-molecular elastomer that is included in the inner area of the nonwoven fabric.
