To realize flickerless by reducing pulsation of an LED current even if non-electrolytic capacitor is used for enhancing high temperature resistance.
The LED lighting device includes a rectification circuit which performs AC-DC conversion with an AC power supply voltage to generate a rectified voltage, a capacitor connected to a DC output side of the rectification circuit, a step up/down circuit which performs DC-DC conversion with the rectification voltage for supplying power to an LED load, and control circuit which drives a switching element provided to the step up/down circuit. The aforesaid capacitor is a non-electrolytic capacitor, and the control circuit drives the switching element such that the step up/down circuit operates in a current intermittent mode and a product becomes almost constant between a switching frequency of the switching element and a current setting value of the step up/down circuit. The LED lighting device has aforementioned characteristics.
