PURPOSE: To provide a length compensating device requiring only a slight force for axial movement and being easily manufacturable while having side faces embossed through deformation process which involves no cutting.
CONSTITUTION: This length compensating device 4 is for a Cardan shaft having two tubular molded members, i.e., an outer molded member and an inner molded member 7. The outer molded member has two wedge-shaped portions manufactured of circumferentially offset recesses, and the wedge-shaped portions project inward beyond the inner surface of the remaining circular ring-shaped cross section of the outer molded member and engage in grooves 11 in the inner molded member 7 which have similar recesses. Thus, the pair of molded members suited for transmitting high torques are produced and the length compensating device 4 does not have radially projecting members.
