PURPOSE: To cut even a wire lacking in flexibility into correct length without any damage by constantly detecting the sag of the wire between auxiliary feed rollers and length-measuring feed rollers, and controlling the rotational speeds of both the rollers so that the sagging amount is kept optimum.
CONSTITUTION: A wire W from a stock roll 1 is passed through various roller groups 2W5 and cut before being discharged through coating stripping clamps 7, a cutting edge group 8 and coating stripping clamps 9. On the way thereto, at a sagging part Y, the wire passes through a ring 10c1 at the end of the lever 10c. The ring 10c vertically moves according to the weight of the wire, causing the angle θ of the lever 10c to vary. A controlling 12, which incorporates in built-in manner a computer to comprehensively control the whole cutter, issues instructions for a motor M1 to operate continuously and variably and for motors M2 and m3 to operate intermittently, according to the inputs from a potentiometer 10g which outputs the data on the sagging amount (y), a cutting length setting device 13 and a pulse generating part 6 for making length-measuring feed rollers 5 and 5' move intermittently. Thereby, with the sag maintained properly, even a wire lacking in flexibility is cut into correct length without any damage.
