A lens apparatus has a focusing lens group, a separating optical system disposed on an optical axis of the lens apparatus, the focus detection means that detects focus condition using a light beam from the separating optical system, a first drive unit that drives the focusing lens group based on an output of the focus detection means, and a second drive unit that drives the separating optical system. An optical separating surface that the separating optical system has reflectance that varies continuously in a first direction. The second drive unit drives the separating optical system in the first direction.
