A lens barrel, which takes a photographing standby state and a collapsed state in which a length in the optical axis direction is shorter than a length in the photographing standby state, is so configured as to include: light quantity adjustment means for adjusting a light quantity passing through the lens barrel; and moving lens group which has at least one lens and varies in distance to the light quantity adjustment means between the photographing standby state and the collapsed state. The light quantity adjustment means causes a light quantity to be less in the collapsed state than in the photographing standby state, and the distance between the moving lens group and the light quantity adjustment means is longer in the collapsed state than a minimum distance in the photographing standby state.
