PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a lens controller which places a lens unit in zooming operation of a lens unit by properly switching a uniaxial tow-operation type controller and a zoom demand, to switch an effective controller to the uniaxial two- operation type controller from the zoom demand on such a condition that an operation rod of the uniaxial two-operation type controller exceeds a fixed manipulated variable or that the position of the operation rod crosses an actual zoom position. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 40 when given a switching instruction for switching the effective controller to the uniaxial two-operation controller 42 from the zoom demand 26 monitors a zoom position command signal from the uniaxial tow-operation type controller 42 and performs zoom control based upon the command signal when a zoom position commanded with the command signal crosses the actual zoom position.
