To provide a lens holding rack superior in workability which does not damage a lens optical surface of a lens base material when mounting the lens base material, and a lens manufacturing method.
A lens holding rack 1 includes a lens holding unit 8 including: a lower holding member 10 which is brought into contact with an outer peripheral part of a lens base material from below to control the lens base material into a lens mounting position; a sideward turning holding member 20 which is turnably configured so as to be brought into contact with the outer peripheral part of the lens base material from one side in a horizontal direction to control the lens base material into the lens mounting position; a sideward fixed holding member 30 which is brought into contact with the outer peripheral part of the lens base material from the other side in the horizontal direction to control the lens base material into the lens mounting position; an urging member 22 capable of pressing the sideward turning holding member 20 toward the lens base material. The sideward turning holding member 20 includes a holding arm portion 20a extending from its turning center C toward the lens mounting position and a weight balance portion 20b extending above the holding arm portion 20a and has a centroid G located on the side of the weight balance portion 20b and is turned by gravity when not holding the lens base material.
