Title:
LENS SYSTEM HAVING GRADED INDEX LENS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07301748
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To excellently compensate magnified chromatic aberration and a Petzval sum, to balance on-axis performance by suppressing monochromatic spherical aberration and to obtain good picture quality over a whole screen by using a graded index lens obtained in a comparatively natural manner.

CONSTITUTION: This system is composed of a lens L, a diaphragm A and a graded index lens R in order from the object side. Namely, by interposing the diaphragm A, the lens L having a positive refractive power and a uniform refractive index is provided and the planar graded index lens obtained in a comparatively natural manner and having the distribution of refractive index in the radial direction and a positive refractive power is used so as to make a lens system having good picture quality on the whole screen. Preferably by combining the lens L having a positive refractive power and a uniform refractive index with the graded index lens of a positive refractive power interposing the diaphragm A and using a material whose refractive index is high and Abbe number is small on the optical axis and the refractive index is low and the Abbe number is large as departed from the optical axis for forming the graded index lens of a positive refractive power, the magnified aberration is compensated and the positive Petzval value is made small.
