NEW MATERIAL: Compds. of formula I [wherein Z is O or S; q is O when Z is O; q is O, 1 or 2 when Z is S; R is -(CH2)mCOOH, a group of formula II or the like; m is 0 to 6; Y is -(ACH)n(CH2)pCONHSO2R3 (wherein A is H, OH, alkyl or the like; and n and p are each 0 or 1) or the like; and one of R1 and R2 is an alkyl, alkoxyl, phenylalkyl or the like, and the other is H, Br, Cl, CH3, CF3, OH, NO2 or the like] and salts of them.
EXAMPLE: 2-Hydroxy-3-[2-N-phenylsulfonylcarbamoylethyl)thio]-3-[2-(8- phenyloctyl)phenyl]propanoic acid.
USE: Leukotriene antagonists.
PROCESS: For example, an alkyl- or arylsulfonamide is reacted with an analogous ester compd. of formula I having a terminal ester group at the R-position and a terminal acid group at the Y-position to obtain a compd. of formula I.
