To provide a method for controlling a level of a vehicle that detects accurately, and determines a position of a vehicle structural portion with respect to a road on which it runs by means of a device as simple as possible, and a vehicle equipped with a means that accomplishes this control.

A vehicle is equipped with a level control process, a level control system 6, and a vehicle structural portion. The vehicle structural portion is supported by wheel suspension systems 2, 3 via spring elements 2d, 2e, 3d, 3e. Wheels 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b with gas-filled tires are supported by these wheel suspension systems. The level control system 6 is capable of controlling a distance between wheel suspension systems 2, 3 and the vehicle structural portion to a distance target value xsoll that can be variably defined in advance depending on a vehicle loadage. A tire pressure is detected and the distance target value xsoll can be variably defined in advance depending on the detected tire pressure.
