To provide a level raising construction method of a dam for shortening a construction period, and reducing cost, by using a gate member of an existing dam by preventing the problem wherein the gate member becomes an overload state.
A bank body (a skeleton) 10 of the dam is constituted by placing concrete, and has a normally using flood delivery discharge device 11. Its normally using flood delivery discharge device has a discharge waterway 12, an auxiliary gate 13 and a radial gate (a gate member) 14, and includes a process of installing a steel shell (an orifice means) 21 in the discharge waterway in a mode of reducing the pressure receiving area of water applied to the radial gate via the discharge waterway when raising a level of its dam and a process of arranging a level raising layer 25 in the bank body.
