Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the size by forming a slider in a shape in which a protruding central rail is provided along the center on the surface opposed to a medium and protruding side rails shorter than the central rail are provided on both sides of the central rail. CONSTITUTION:A slider 13 is formed in a shape in which a protruding central rail 14 is provided along the center on the surface opposed to a medium, i.e., a levitating surface and protruding side rails 15, 16 shorter than the rail 14 are provided on both sides of the rail 14. A head element 20 is disposed at the center of the end face 13a of the slider 13. The vibration in a pitch direction is suppressed by the rail 14, the vibration of a roll direction L is suppressed by the rails 15, 16 arranged on both sides of the fail 14, and the head is stabilized in both directions. Even if the width W of the slider is set to 1.5mm or less, it can be stably levitated. Thus, its size can be reduced.
