To provide a life-prolonging material for cut flowers exhibiting excellent life-prolonging effects that keeps cut flowers fresh for long hours when it is placed still in arrangement water in a water tank where the cut flowers are arranged.
The life-prolonging material for cut flowers comprises a solid matter obtained by solidifying by cure a kneadate comprising 100 pts.wt. of a charcoal powder, 5-20 pts.wt. of cement and 5-20 pts.wt. of an inorganic salt aqueous solution and, absorbed therein, a plant extract essence mainly composed of phytoncid and chitosan. The manufacturing method of the life-prolonging material for cut flowers comprises steps for kneading the composition above, molding the kneadate into a molded matter, curing and solidifying the molded matter and impregnating the solid matter with a solution of the plant extract essence mainly composed of phytoncid and chitosan.
