This life-saving device comprises a driving device 10 having left and right housings 14, fluid and impellers 24 accommodated inside of the housings, rotating shafts 20 fixed to the impellers 24, towing means 34 wound on the rotating shafts 20, and control pieces 44 movable to the housings 14 and kept into contact with the impellers 24. A holding means 58 is fixed to the housings 14 for holding the dropping person. The body is held by the holding means 58, the towing means 34 are fixed inside of the building, the driving device 10 and the holding means 58 are lowered from the building together, and the control pieces 44 are controlled to adjust a lowering speed.
