A lifting device 3 for a bed or the like in which a support part 2 for supporting a user is attached to a leg part 1 in a manner to be movable up and down includes: a quadric link mechanism 14 consisting of a base side support pillar 14A provided to the leg part 1, a lifting side support pillar 14B provided to the support part 2, and two parallel links 14C and 14D provided between the base side support pillar 14A and the lifting side support pillar 14B; an actuator 15 for lifting for swinging the quadric link mechanism 14 up and down; and biasing means 16 provided between the base side support pillar 14A and the lifting side support pillar 14B for exerting a resilient force in a direction that lifts the lifting side support pillar 14B. The quadric link mechanism 14 is a parallel motion mechanism, and the parallel links 14C and 14D are caused to be parallel to each other at an intermediate position or near the intermediate position of a lifting stroke of the support part 2.
