To provide a lifting device for a vehicle capable of preventing a receiving body from being unnecessarily oscillated to an allowable posture by erroneous operation of a manual operation tool.

The lifting device comprises: the receiving body 38 provided at a boarding/alighting end of a mounting body 1 in such a state that it can rise and fall, and oscillate in a stopped posture to be upwardly risen and oscillated, and in an allowable posture to be outwardly fallen and oscillated; a holding means 43 which is provided at the mounting body 1, and holds the receiving body 38 in the stopped posture; the manual operation tool 39 for operating the holding means, which is provided in the mounting body 1 so as to be operated to move between a hold position in which the holding means 43 turns into a hold active state and a hold canceling position in which the holding means 43 turns into a hold canceling state; and a restraining means 42 which restrains the manual operation tool 39 from moving in a hold canceling direction from the hold position to the hold canceling position, and cancels the restraining since the manual operation tool 39 is moved in a restraining canceling direction being different from the hold canceling direction. The manual operation tool 39 is constituted to be freely operated to move in the hold canceling direction as well as in the restraining canceling direction.
