PURPOSE: To provide a light amplification relaying device, with which amplification gain can be adjusted easily, and the gain amplification method for the light amplification relaying device.
CONSTITUTION: In a light amplification relaying device composed of light amplification fiber which is excited by an excitation laser beam and outputs an input light signal by amplifying it, an excitation laser which outputs a light for excitation of the light amplification fiber, a monitoring part with which the output of the laser beam is monitored and converted into an electric signal, a control part which controls the output of the monitoring part and the output power of the laser beam based on the output of the monitoring part and the reference voltage; a reference voltage control means, with which reference voltage is changed by an external command, is provided. The output power of the laser beam is controlled based on the reference voltage which is determined by the reference voltage control means, and the output of the monitoring part, and the amplification gain of the light amplification fiber is adjusted.
