Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light amplifier by which degradation of light amplifying power can be suppressed and flatness of the gain can be easily maintained even if the input signal light power varies.
SOLUTION: A part of signal light inputted to an input connector 101 is divided by a photocoupler 111 and its power is detected by a photoreceptor 141. In accordance with the power of the input signal light detected by the photoreceptor 141, the temperature of an optical fiber 131 for amplification is controlled by a temperature controlling part 161 through a Pertier device 133. Also, a part of the signal light outputted from an output connector 102 is divided by a photocoupler 114 and its power is detected by a photoreceptor 142. The power of excitation light supplied from an excitation light source 152 to the optical fiber 131 for amplification is controlled by an output control part 162 in such a way that the power of the output signal light detected by the photoreceptor 142 attains a fixed target value.
