Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light delivery apparatus, a polarization rotator, and a method therefor.SOLUTION: A polarization rotator 204 comprises a first waveguide 220 configured to be coupled to an input coupler at a first end, and a second waveguide 222. The first waveguide 220 is offset from the second waveguide 222, and a second end of the first waveguide 220 is coupled to a second end of the second waveguide 222. Thereby, as light energy propagates through the polarization rotator 204, the polarization of the light energy is rotated from a TE mode (parallel to the x-axis) to a TM mode (parallel to the y-axis).
