To provide a light-emitting device which improves the structure of an electron emission unit, simplifies its manufacturing process, lowers its manufacturing cost and improves safety in driving by improving withstanding voltage characteristics of a cathode electrode and a gate electrode and to provide a display device having the light-emitting device as a light source.
The light-emitting device for simplifying a structure of an electron emission unit and a manufacturing process thereof is provided. A display device using the light-emitting device as a light source is also provided. The light-emitting device 101 includes a vacuum panel having a first substrate 12 and a second substrate 14 and a sealing member. Recesses 28 have an arbitrary depth into a side of the first substrate. Cathode electrodes 24 are formed in the recesses. Electron emission regions 22 are on cathode electrodes. A gate electrode 26 is fixed at one side of the first substrate at a distance from the electron emission regions. A light-emitting unit 20 is at one side of the second substrate. The gate electrode includes a mesh unit having openings for passing of electron beams and a supporting member 34 surrounding the mesh unit.
