Abstract:

To provide a light emitting device which can operate an organometallic complex to emit light efficiently.

In a light emitting element having a hole transport layer, a light emitting layer and an electron transport layer between first and second electrodes and further having a mixture layer between the electron transport layer and the second electrode, the mixture layer contains an electron transport substance and a substance exhibiting an electron impartment property. The light emitting layer contains an organometallic complex represented by a general formula (1) and a host. In the formula, R1and R2represent a electron attractive substituent, R3and R4represent any one of hydrogen or a 1-4C alkyl group, and L represents a ligand.
