To provide a light emitting device using a solid light-emitting diode (LED) that can enhance brightness of an end portion of a light emitting face and obtain a uniform brightness distribution as the whole light emitting device.
A light emitting device 1 has plural LEDs 2, a substrate 3 on which LEDs 2 are mounted, and wavelength conversion members 4, 4' containing fluorescent material as transparent resin members covering the light emitting faces of the LEDs 2. Light from an LED 2 disposed to be nearer to the end portion of the substrate 3 is distributed to the peripheral edge portion of the substrate 3. According to this construction, the light amount in the peripheral edge portion direction of the substrate 3 increases by the light from the LED 2 disposed to be nearer to the end portion of the substrate 3, so that the brightness of the end portion of the light emitting face can be enhanced, and a uniform brightness distribution can be obtained as the whole light emitting device 1.
