To obtain a light emitting device which is built into an apparatus by having it comprise a light emitting element chip mounted on an insulating substrate, a coil pattern of a conductor formed on the insulating substrate, and a translucent material for integrally sealing a circuit including the light emitting element chip and the coil pattern.
An LED chip 1 die bonded to an island part 2a via conductive paste has a cathode on the rear surface side connected electrically with the island part 2a thence connected sequentially with an anode on the surface side via a coil part 2c, a pad part 2b and a wire 3. When the intensity of magnetic field traversing the coil part 2c is varied, a voltage and a current are generated across the coil part 2c through electromagnetic induction, and a light L is emitted from the LED chip 1 using the generated electromotive force as a power supply. According to this arrangement, reliability is enhanced greatly, a light emitting unit is miniaturized and limitations in the shape of an apparatus for incorporating the light emitting unit is reduced.
