A cathode electrode 10 is arranged and installed in a peripheral part of a translucent part 30, an anode electrode 15 is arranged and installed in an opposing region to the translucent part 30, and a surface 16a of the phosphor 16 arranged and installed at the upper layer of the anode electrode 15 is formed in a recessed face. By this, even in the case the cathode electrode 10 (an electron emission source 11) is offset in the peripheral part of the translucent part 30, it can be precisely opposed to the surface 16a of the phosphor 16, and exciting light from the whole face of the surface 16a of the phosphor 16 can be made incident into the translucent part 30 without interference with the cathode electrode 10 or the like.
