To provide a bright and high-reliable light-emitting device; and to provide a high-reliability electric appliance using such a light-emitting device as a display part or a light source.
A positive electrode 102, an EL layer 103, a negative electrode 104, and an auxiliary electrode 105 are sequentially laminated on a reflecting electrode 101. The positive electrode 102, the negative electrode 104, and the auxiliary electrode 105 are transparent or semi-transparent with respect to visible light. In such a structure, almost all light rays generated in the EL layer 103 are radiated to the negative electrode 104 side, whereby an effective light-emitting area of a pixel is drastically improved. By arranging a substance having hygroscopicity between the negative electrode 104 and a counter substrate, incorporated water, oxygen and gas are adsorbed thereto.
