Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device in which luminance distributions of light emitting elements are uniform and which has a uniform light emission distribution.SOLUTION: A light emitting device comprises: a support medium 20; a p wiring electrode 25A formed on a surface of the support medium; an n wiring electrode 25B electrically insulated from the p wiring electrode; and a light emitting element which has a semiconductor structure layer in which a first semiconductor layer 31, an active layer 33 and a second semiconductor layer 35 having a conductivity type opposite to that of the first semiconductor layer are sequentially laminated and a surface of the first semiconductor layer serves as a light extracting surface, and which is electrically connected to the p wiring electrode and the n wiring electrode and arranged on a surface of the support medium. The light emitting element has: a plurality of holes which pierce the second semiconductor layer and the active layer from the second semiconductor layer side to reach the inside of the first semiconductor layer; n electrodes 45A, 45B, 45C which are insulated from the second semiconductor layer and the active layer, and formed in contact with the first semiconductor layer exposed from bottoms of the plurality of holes; and a p electrode 39 formed on a surface of the second semiconductor layer. Depths of the plurality of holes increase with the decreasing distance from the p wiring electrode.
