Abstract:
To provide a light emitting diode which has an excellent color reproduction range and a suppressed power consumption, and facilitates control of color balance.
The light emitting diode comprises: a blue LED chip 14 having main wavelengths of 400 nm to 480 nm; a phosphor 20 for emitting light by absorbing at least part of light emitted from the blue LED chip 14, and converting it to light having main wavelengths of 520 nm to 560 nm; and a red LED chip 15 having main wavelengths of 600 nm to 700 nm. Light from the blue LED chip 14, light from the phosphor 20, and three color light from the red LED chip 15 are mixed to emit white color light.
