Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve a light emitting element in directivity and optical output through a lens effect and to form it compact in constitution as a whole by a method wherein a light projecting face is formed in a curved face protruding outward. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode array 2 is composed of two or more light emitting diodes provided with a light emitting section 4a respectively and molded into an integral structure with molding resin, and the light projecting face of the molded resin is provided with, at least, a curved face protruding outward in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which two or more light emitting sections 4a are arranged. Therefore, a space and a positional relation between the light emitting sections 4a can be accurately specified in an assembly phase, and projecting light is improved in directivity and enhanced in output through the lens effect of the projecting face in a plane perpendicular to the direction in which the light emitting sections 4a are arranged. By this setup, a light emitting diode array of this design can be formed compact in structure as a whole and a large optical output can be obtained.
