To provide a light irradiation device easy to manufacture and capable of improving optical characteristics, and also to provide a manufacturing method of a light irradiation device, a diffraction optical element polygon assembly, a manufacturing method of a diffraction optical element polygon assembly, a diffraction optical element, and a manufacturing method of a diffraction optical element.SOLUTION: A light irradiation device 1 includes: a light source part 20; and a diffraction optical element 10 arranged at a location to be irradiated with light from the light source part 20 and including a unit cell 17 of a rectangular shape having a plurality of diffraction gratings to obtain specific light distribution characteristics. The diffraction optical element 10 includes a plurality of the unit cells 17 periodically arranged.
